The water energy resource and potential project information provided by the Virtual Hydropower Prospector (VHP) do Brasil is as accurate as possible within the limitations of the uncertainties of the basic data and methods used. The estimates of potential installed capacity provided were determined analytically. The method used to determine stream reach (water energy resource site) capacity potential did not include evaluating any aspect of the feasibility of developing a discrete resource or collective group of resources other than location inside or outside a zone in which hydropower development is highly unlikely because of a federal law or policy. These capacity estimates do not include or address equipment efficiencies or resource availability. Actual project capacity potential may be less than or greater than the estimated value depending on the actual site development scheme and other factors affecting development feasibility. VHP do Brasil users need to ensure that the information provided by VHP do Brasil is adequate for their intended use. Local site evaluation and engineering and economic analyses are essential parts of any project development effort.
